Youth Education (Sunday School) is open to children from pre-school through high school. Confirmation is available to 6th, 7th and 8th-graders. Classes are taught generally on the second Sunday of each month from 5:00-6:30 PM. A light meal is offered at 5 p.m. and education starts at 5:30.

Confirmation students get to know Christ in ways that will aid them in gaining a deeper understanding of their faith as they journey on this three-year program. For Confirmation information, please contact Pastor Jay.

For younger children:

"Spark Time" is a special class prepared for children age 9 and younger that takes place after the children's message during Sunday morning worship each week in the room across from the nursery. Please see an usher when you arrive for more information.

SPARK TIME

Spark Time is a worship outreach for children which focuses first on God’s story, and then creating connections between church and families.

Spark Time has grown. What began as a temporary aid to families as we renovated the building and the Nursery, has become an expected Sunday worship supplement, adding a weekly component that complements the strong Education and Youth program. The target age grew from Toddler into ages 3 to 9. We welcome parents and family members to come along and serve as emotional anchors, if needed, but especially for children two-years-old and under. The session uses the Spark Story Bible (Augsburg Fortress) as the main resource. Each child receives a book, supported by donations, to continue reading with the family at home.

Spark Time has challenges. God is good and provides continuous solutions. Here are some challenges that keep us up at night: an overcrowded session room, health concerns, story props that help a child focus, materials that help a child safely express through arts and crafts, working through family solutions that may modify unfocused
behavior so all children can be well-served, and general safety in a changing world.

Spark Time needs prayer support. The sessions are fully funded, but could not exist without partners in prayer:

Dear God, continue to connect us to YOU. Grow our fragile faith as we humbly follow your guidance as a precious and lifelong child ofGod. Empower us to boldly share your message of love, and forgive our mistakes by repeatedly revealing your glorious grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Spark Time attendance varies. The 2025 Easter attendance was: 9 Littles, 4 school-age siblings, 2 babies, 5 parents. There were 13 additional children who attended in the past and were invited again. Some of those families responded to a “Happy Easter” text later
that day, showing a continuing interest in Spark Time connections. Adding on anticipated Easter visitors, we needed to prepare about 30 crafts. Alleluia!

Spark Time weaves God’s Word into the mind, heart, body, and soul.  You may have seen the taped cross on the hallway floor. Children learn best through multiple modalities, including listening to stories, making music, creating crafts, and designing dance or movement patterns. We repeat a key Bible passage as the children
“hopscotch” the floor pattern, helping make a physical memory they can take with them.

Spark Volunteers: Beth Iafigliola (Mrs. I), Kelli Brown, and children’s family members. We welcome adults and siblings to serve as emotional anchors for the very young.

Calendar: January through June, September through December.
